Couple break world record with 126 bridesmaids

It must have taken this newlywed a while to get down the aisle, with a record-breaking 126 bridesmaids by her side.
Nisansala and Nalin were not happy with making their vows in a conventional manner so decided to smash a Guinness world record at the same time.

The couple achieved this by having more than 96 bridesmaids at their nuptials, which was the previous best.
The record was the brainchild of Sri Lankan bridal designer Champi Siriwardana, who talked about how difficult it would be beforehand.

‘Breaking the Guinness world record is no mean feat and one that I cannot achieve alone,’ she said.
‘It is a great responsibility and challenge. There can be no mistakes. I must approach this challenge with a steadfast and unfaltering mind.’
The bill for the dresses must have been enormous but we’re more concerned about the 25 best men, who may have had their hands full…
